Choose a Monitor Light Bar With the Webcam Still in Place
Check the exact screen attachment and top-edge conflicts before adding a light.
We have not performed hands-on testing of the products discussed. Manufacturer references and official guidance support the documented information below; comparison exercises are our editorial guidance.
A monitor light bar shares the screen edge with a webcam, sensors and sometimes an unusual rear housing. It should be selected as an attachment system, not just a long light. Begin with the exact monitor and top-edge arrangement, then compare power and controls without assuming a product-family claim fits every display.
Identify the complete screen arrangement
Record the monitor model, shape, thickness at the relevant point and the objects already attached. Read the light-bar maker's compatibility method for that exact display type. BenQ's official ScreenBar product and family pages identify a real monitor-light format, but their descriptions should not be converted into a universal fit guarantee. Curved screens, integrated cameras and other unusual housings need the specific supported arrangement checked.
Map webcam and sensor access
Mark the webcam, privacy control and any screen sensors relative to the proposed clamp. A light may fit physically while blocking the camera or interfering with a normal cover. Read permitted accessory placement and mounting conditions rather than adding improvised spacers or adhesive to an unsupported screen. If a compatible webcam arrangement is offered, verify whether it is included or a separate documented part. A photograph showing both objects does not prove the active option contains every accessory.
Check power and control reach
Read the exact bar's required power source and included cable or adapter. Do not assume an arbitrary monitor USB port supplies the documented requirement. Place any controller within practical reach and measure the lead route without strain through monitor adjustment. Decide which settings you will actually use. This site has not measured glare, illuminance, flicker or eye comfort and should not turn a manufacturer feature name into an independent performance result.
Compare a separate lamp
An appropriate desk lamp can avoid a screen-mounting conflict, while a supported bar may free a useful surface area. Compare those options against the actual paper task. Skip the bar if exact screen compatibility remains unresolved. If buying, confirm model and generation, supplied parts and regional returns, retain the attachment and power instructions and test the permitted arrangement. Recheck when replacing the monitor or camera rather than assuming the same clip fits every future screen.
Compare the trade-offs
| Option or check | Reason to choose | Reason to reconsider |
|---|---|---|
| Monitor-mounted bar | Exact screen and webcam arrangement are supported | Family branding alone does not establish fit. |
| Separate desk lamp | Screen attachment conflicts remain | A base uses some working surface. |
| Separate controller | Documented remote settings serve the task | Cable and controller storage add requirements. |
